Overdue update. We're back together, and I think stronger this time. Being apart just didn't make sense. It wasn't worth the grief. We're both happy.

Work is keeping busy. I recently picked up a pretty cool new freelance gig, designing a lighting system for a juggling and aerial company that's converting an old car garage into a home space for them to rehearse and perform...

Well. The lady and I are taking a break, and it feels like getting back together would be an uphill battle. I think we're in agreement that it's necessary but it still hurts.

Hey Squinty!

Don't you play too? I seem to remember a vacation, a fireplace, and playing for your lady...or maybe it was something I imagined in a mezcal haze.

Really? Sadly, I only know a couple of songs because I've played them to death after a few lessons and over a year's practice to get there. I really need to learn the basics and build instead of short cutting through memorization like I have been. But, getting at least a couple of songs right motivates me to learn more, you know?

You need to share some of your blues! Why are you holding out?

My blues are tied to a shortage of sleep resulting from too much thinking work. I hate thinking. It's overrated. In my next life I'm going to get a job as a lawn ornament.

You're lady is in a show? As in stage or screen or radio? That sounds cool, except for the not seeing ech other part.

Hey Squinty. Honestly, no amount of condolences, timely or otherwise, would make better the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I just appreciate the sentiment, and it is always good to see you around here whenever you appear. I hope you've been away from SG for fun reasons and not that you're working yourself to the bone.

I'm beginning to see a pattern.

April-May: Optimism.
Summer: Desire to do new things, intermittent frustration and depression at idleness.
Fall: Chugging along interspersed with anxiety.
December: The Pits.
January: Resolve to do better.
February-March: Overdrive, gritting teeth.
squinty:
See y'all after the New Year.
velvet_petal:
The pits? Oh no! See you in '11, Squinty.
