Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. (Gosh, how many times has that been my opening line now?)
My list of excuses:
- moving into a new house takes up all my time
- my website is almost complete and we'll be launching it soon
- my rat ate my previous post
- my work schedule has been nuts
This month has been a good month for geeks. Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator....wow!
Unfortunately, Wolverine was a major disappointment. Just like all the other X-Men movies.
I enjoyed like maybe 14 minutes of that film. Most of which were Gambit's scenes and very early Wade scenes. I thought I was going to not like the Gambit stuff at all (because he has nothing to do with Wolverine's origins and I was afraid they would screw up one of my favorite characters as badly as they've screwed up the rest) but surprisingly, the Gambit stuff was quite tolerable and, dare I say it, good. Taylor Kitch is signed on to play Gambit in a few more movies and I actually am looking forward to it.
As for the remaining 93 minutes.....*sigh*.
I don't even want to talk about what they did to Deadpool. Or Emma Frost for that matter. I am in the process of blocking a lot of that out of my memory right now. I could go on a tangent about all the things that were just wrong wrong wrong...but I don't have that kind of time.
All I can say is.....
STAR TREK MADE UP FOR EVERYTHING!!!!
I don't need to tell you how good that movie is...you have all seen it and so you already know. Thank FRIGGIN GOD! A few years ago when Enterprise was on its second season and Star Trek Nemesis was released, I said to my boyfriend ; "Well, that's it. The Star Trek franchise is over. An awful TV series followed by a bad movie, they will never recover from this. Our kids will grow up in a sad world devoid of any new Star Trek adventures. We should just get sterilized now."
I've seen the movie three times now...twice on IMAX (once on a REAL IMAX screen, the kind that wraps around) and I collected all the Burger King glasses. I have two Spocks though...just in case one breaks.
Speaking of Spock....

Yum!! I'd like to be there for his Pon farr.
You guys know I love the Vulcans and this movie was just filled with Vulcan-hotness! My only complaint...(besides the scientific impossibility of coming out a black hole reconstructed into one piece that is identical to your former self...*ahem* Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle...and the slight error of naming a drink the Cardassian Sunrise...that one is up for debate but Memory Alpha states that Cardassians were still quite primitive at that time and it seems unlikely that a species in that technological stage would have been contacted by the Federation...oh and also there is Spock's childhood which should have remained the same despite the changes made to that universe but we see in the movie he has a good relationship with his father when we know from TOS: "Journey to Babel" and TNG: "Sarek" and even later in TNG: "Reunification part 1 and 2" that he and his father are constantly at odds with each other all through Spock's childhood. Rebelling against his father is what made him join Star Fleet in the first place.) ...is that I didn't like the guy who plays Sarek. Now I realize that Mark Lenard was unavailable being....errrrr....permanently retired and whatnot. But the actor who replaced him for the role...well, he just doesn't have the grace and stoicism that Sarek should.
Anyway....very minor complaints! Otherwise, it was a wonderful movie and I am waiting for 2011 with breath that is bated.
As for Terminator...I haven't seen it yet and so I will wait to nit-pick it to death until I've given it a proper chance. Okay....one comment though! Sorry!
I did watch the previews for it and I must say I am not really that anxious to see it. I feel like I've seen this movie already. Back when it was called Screamers.
Speaking of which, they came out with Screamers 2 a few months ago! I heard it is really good!! I shall have to place an order with Amazon.
Okay....enough geek rant for today!

Dark and a bit surreal at the same time.
Sexy as hell, too!
