Catching up with you all quickly!
Let me touch on some of the important/fun/crazy events that have happened over the past few weeks.
Christmas: Got through it okay. I made about seven or eight different types of cookies and also some homemade citrus peel candies to distribute amongst family members and friends. I actually do this every year so that is really nothing new but still worth mentioning.
Got a shiny, new laptop from a customer at work for Christmas. It is a Sony Vaio and I am absolutely in love with it. I cant believe it took me this long to get a laptop. Ive been getting so much work done now that I am no longer chained to my home computer.
New Years: As most of you are aware, I am not normally a go out and party kind of girl. I can honestly say that I have managed to sleep through pretty much every count down to midnight on New Years Eve in the past ten years or so.
This year, my friends some how convinced me to go out and have some fun at our usual nightclub hangout, Shampoo. They actually had the Goth/Industrial night still running for New Years Eve and also had open bar for a few hours.
So my friend Melissa gives me a Long Island Ice tea (which Ive never hadI dont normally drink anything but the occasional glass of wine) and she kept on giving them to me as the night went on. I could feel myself struggling to concentrate. It was the worst feeling. I literally felt like my fully aware and conscious mind was trapped in a body that just would not cooperate. (YesIve actually never been drunk before.)
I kept trying to focus on what was going on around me but I felt dizzy and tired. Finally, around 11 oclock or so, I walked out into the freezing cold air and laid down in my car. I slept there until past midnightuntil my friends came out and drove me home.
So it seems that I am just not meant to be awake for New Years Eve. I have decided not to fight it and am now just going to consider it a holiday of rest and blissful sleepiness. Maybe Ill try a pajama party next year. Hmm.
New York: A few days later, I went up to New York; mostly to visit and have a late Christmas celebration with my boyfriends family but also to hang out with my friend John. You guys know him here as OpticNerve. We got to know each other better over the summer at Comic Con in San Diego. I now consider him to be one of my favorite people ever.
Anywho, I had a smashing good time with him up in NYC. We went to the Japanese bookstore, had some delicious Japanese curry, went to the comic book stores, went to some toy storesit was a very good day. There arent many people who can keep up with my geekiness and strange interestsbut he does it like a pro!
I am even allowing him to help me cross over into the DC universe.as my respect for Marvel has been hanging by a thread these past months. Im not going to quit collecting Marvel comics (that would be crazy!)but I may cut back and start picking up some DC titles.
I hope to see him again soon (eerrrr.Broadway show perhaps??) and hang out before the convention season starts up in the late spring/summer.
Okaywell that is it for the holidays and what not.
I have some new pics and fun stuff to post but I shall save that for later this week!! Right now, I have to get dinner started.
