Just finished bottling my two latest batches of beer. I stuck to recipes this time, albeit recipes from Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head CEO & owner). I never feel as confident about the brews when I stick to other's recipes, I just don't have the same passion for them and I get worried they'll come out like shit.
First batch is a cranberry braggot (mead/beer mix) with a little bit of orange thrown in. Clocked in at 8.5% abv, right on target. Smells sweet, tastes a bit hot (boozy)... Definitely going to need some time to age and round out.
Second batch is an imperial pale ale. Clocked in way under target at only 4.7% . Smells & tastes hoppy, but it's supposed to so that's fine. Also going to need time to round out.
In other news: I can't find a girl I'm interested in that isn't a lesbian, taken, and/or out of bounds for other reasons to save my life. It's been a year and a half since I got kicked out of my own apartment by my ex because SHE cheated on ME. I still don't understand how that worked out nor do I understand how, in her mind, the trouble we had wasn't caused by her cheating on me multiple times. That's beside the point, though. The point I'm trying to make is that I loved her, still do if I'm honest with myself and due to some ridiculous mental handicap associated with that I can't find a girl that holds my interest like she did.
Maybe I'm trying too hard. I don't think that's the mistake here, but my only options are trying harder or not as hard - and I'd prefer to try the latter first.
Bitch, bitch, bitch. Alright, bitching is done. Back to thinking about my homebrewing. Beer always loves you, no matter what - that's a fact.
