As I was lamenting to HagbardBjorn earlier today, I discovered something really weird about myself musically.... I've really developed a thing for really repetitive techno. The last two weeks could be divided up into two phases for me, "slow" and "fast". I usually listen to "slow" at work, which is mostly twerk and a bunch of other downtempo. "Fast" is mostly umek and a bunch of other driving techno.
So that's not the weird thing. The weird thing happens when I happen to be listening to punk. I'm still the punk music director at our radio station, and I have this giant stack of CD's from various labels that I have to review... any time I find a song longer than three minutes, I get bored and skip it. It is my firm belief that no punk song should be over 2:30, unless you have written permission from any number of applicable rock gods.
So yeah, in spite of the two minute rule, I manage to be able to listen to a clinking noise with some beeping (slow) or a drumbeat with some beeping (fast) for about 8 hours straight, every day. Go figure. =/ Maybe it's the words that make it tiresome... I'm still trying to figure that out.
Anywho, went over to dave82's place tonight; his birthday is today (but it will probably be yesterday by the time you read this, but whatever). Everyone go tag his journal and whatnot. Also saw the infamous baby rats.... they were most cute, and I managed to handle quite a few of them without getting peed or shat on. It's amazing how you can train a rodent to do almost anything except not shit all over the place. Who knows, maybe you can.... -shrug-

So... what would happen if you listened to punk music with a techno beat? or techno with punk rock guitars and singing?
