wildlife interlude
me and ryan (ryan and I, whatever!!!!) stayed up really late to help me get ready for a five am shift (ugh). we decided we wanted something to eat so we went to leave, once outside I heard some hardcore rustling and could see the apple tree right by my door shaking. out jumped the raccoon who has been living in our lower garage. I know they're supposedly pests but this guy is so freaking cute! I've seen him tonnes of times and he's not really scared of us. he was ripping off apples and throwing them in the air and prancing about like a kitten playing with a ball. I felt like stabbing myself with him he was so cute. all of a sudden he turns around puffs up and starts backing away. before this ryan had been peeking out the gate and there was a this big skunk just layng there right in between the house and the path to the car. ryan has been sprayed before I I totally did not want a repeat of that.
anyways, the raccoon ran away cause there was another skunk walking up the hill towards us. ryan got the flashlight and was throwing pebbles in the bushes so maybe it would get scared and go back down the hill but instead it ran forward towards us before ducking under the fence. ryan peeked through gate again and there was ANOTHER skunk there , this one baby sized. it was running back and forth will the bigger one was digging in the ground. finally I managed to slip past with out any incident (the thing didn't even care, once it saw I wasn't going towards it, it flopped back down and started licking itself) on the way to get food we saw one more skunk and two more raccoons just on our street.
when we got back they were all gone. probably a good thing I wanted to kidnap the baby skunk.
