You know - my chinchillas always sleep together.
Spott and Puffball are my chinchillas. Puffball (Puffy) was purchased by myself and the Gothic Elf as a type of pet wre'd share. The Gothic Elf and I are awesome friends and we spent a lot of time together - but her family has allergies. Chinchilla was perfect ... Puffy can be caged but taken out and be cuddly ... he's SO SOFT ... and no one sneezes around him. The down side ~ Gothic Elf didn't tell her family she co-owned a pet until after Puffy came home .
Puffy lived half the time with me in my iguana cage, and half the time with The Gothic Elf. We both realized that we never gave Puffy the kind of attention we believed he deserved - so The Gothic Elf conned me into a solution: She dragged my ass into a pet store and showed me a chinchilla with exotic coloring. I said "No way." She said "Aww, but I already gave her a name. Her name is Spott."
Evil, underhanded trick to name an animal after me ... of course I bought her (Gothic Elf did too). So now we've 2 chinchillas and it was agreed that each animal was 50% mine and 50% the elf's. That way - should the worst happen, we'd never seperate the animals.
Spott was a few months younger than Puffy. They were kept in cages next to one another for about 2 months - with daily play time together in a place that was neither of their homes. Spott was still too young to breed when we decided to move them in together - so I began the long hunt for a vet that would neuter a rodent.
Oh - Puffy still has his manhood ... just nothing backing it up.
I've moved - far away from Gothic Elf ... to far for regular visits. Gothic Elf has neither the time or money to take care of the chinchillas this summer (which makes me sad because not having them for a month or two would be wonderful for finishing moving in). Spott and Puffy have a new bigger cage (than the iguana cage from before) and a few toys which have been taken away from them because they make too much noise when I or Fae are trying to sleep.
They're bastards a lot of the time. They bathe once a week unless I forget. Sometimes them go half a day without food or water (never more) ... but sometimes we spoil them with treats of dried fruits and praise. They're lazy - but they win the hearts of all visitors because they're both just so damn adorable. They've lived together without ever once being seperated for the last year or more ....
And they still sleep together. They still cuddle. They still fight. They still work together. They still cry when they're apart.
Spott and Puffy -
Simeple things give me pleasure.
