Today we will take a very short amount of time to remember the sacrifice of those brave men and women who gave their service in defense of their country and way of life.
While it is easier to remember those who have died, it is the living to whom we must pay homage and afford them every assistance in their lives. It is not just the physical toll, but the mental one that we have never properly given our attention to. These are broken people, how could they not be? To have seen death and risked it every day in the field, it is a weight I do not understand but can recognize, and that burden is terrible and they deserve all the help we can give them.
Today in the quiet moment at the 11th hour, remember not just those who have died but those that carry the scars of war both visible and invisible. It is our duty as beneficiaries of their sacrifice, to help those who suffer from the battlefield and to guard the freedoms we now have and to respect our differences and bridge those gaps with words and empathy.
