This weekend has been insane.
Friday was full of house problems, but it was still fun and full of friends and laughter.
Then Saturday was off to visit Lina in Arlington.
on the road to Dallas.
Then we took off to Dallas to see our friend's Indian dance competition at SMU (Southern Methodist University, located in Dallas, the most expensive private school in Texas and one of the most pricey in the nation for those of you who don't know). SMU won...go figure.... The afterparty was at Club Crem.
Grabbing some veggie sushi and edamame before hitting Club Creme
Let's just say: these Indian FOBs may be good at dancing on the stage but they can't dance in the club. At least in Dallas. But Lina and I went out on the floor and did our own thing. Pretty soon people followed suit:
I swear I really was the only white person there. Lina is from Saudi Arabia, so at least she had SOME brown credentials. I had zero.
Sunday was OF MONTREAL!
Lina and I went to the free show at Good Records, we got a primo balcony spot:
it was an acoustic set and it wasn't that great. We ended up leaving early so we could work on schoolwork at Mockingbird Station (lame, yes, I know)
I was almost afraid to go to the show tonight but I'm glad I did. I met up with a friend I haven't really hung out with since high school, and met some new people. Of Montreal BLEW MY FUCKING MIND! They took the audience on a Ziggy Stardust-esque trip. They are seriously one of the best bands I've had the pleasure of seeing live:
HORRID picture, but you get the idea
And I'm not even going to begin on the stuff that happened when I got home. Me and my roommates are officially the Golden Girls. I eat vegan ice cream and they eat brownies while talking about boys jacking off on their stomachs. Seriously.
This weekend, for the first time in a long time, I didn't think about my ex-boyfriend. I didn't feel hurt, held down or troubled. I felt so goddamn happy to be out in the world, so goddamn happy I didn't stay in Amarillo. So goddamn happy I was out and living.
I'm going to grab life by the balls and live.
cest la vie.
