Whoa, I've been super busy lately.
Working and shite is a bit much sometimes. It's good but a bit much. For some it's too much. I found out tonight a peer at another Chicago school took his own life from it.
It's a pretty lonely subject that's for sure. You can't even talk about what you're doing with your classmates. It's hard to settle down because you know you're going to have to move every few years until you get tenure. And then once you reach that peak you realize much of you're youth is behind you.
At the end of it all you will most likely get a professorship in someplace you didn't really want to live in and getting very little time for the research that you love.
Or you could go get some consulting job paying 2 million a year before bonuses.
I have to give props to those who stick with it for their whole lives. Their only real motivation is their passion for the subject. They will spend their lives building machines that only a few people will ever see and even fewer will ever use.

No, I have peanut butter. I decided to be a bad person and get the cheap really crappy but tasty peanut butter. It's delish.
We might actually get around to seeing Phil one of these days...I don't even know where he's living.
