Nothing drives the housing crunch idea home as much as watching a family be evicted. It might have been a foreclosure, I'm not sure, but the single most depressing thing I've seen in a long time was watching a woman try to hold her kids back while moving men chucked their things out the door onto the sidewalk in front of the house. I had the luck to be riding by right as they hit the kid's room or the play area or something like it because stuffed animals and kid sized furniture were flying. Most of my brain tells me that people who mismanage their finances land themselves in those positions, but even the most cynical part of me has to feel bad for those kids.

I can sympathize with you - both logically and emotionally.

Or they had horrible luck. The world is unkind.
