A sketch from yesterday's session:
Yesterday the drawing spot of choice was a little path out into the marsh on the side of the highway. Part of the trail had washed out (and I had a blast drawing some of the crumbling sections), and it was right at high tide, so there was lot of visible water in the marsh, which normally looks like a big grassland. This particular sketch was right before the sun finally set (about the last 5 minutes as it was going down). I had never realized how fast the sun actually does set at sunset until every time I looked up in about 10 second intervals the entire view had changed.
The whole things was really beautiful though. I think I'm going to go out to that particular spot again sometime when I have better light. The colors at sunset were AMAZING, but it does sort of limit the amount of time I have to get sketches. One thing about going out there to draw, when the sun goes down the light is just gone. The sun dips under the horizon and it's like flipping a light switch when the moon isn't out.
School starts back tomorrow and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'm feeling more up to it and looking forward to it more than I have in a couple of years, but, on the other hand, it will mean no more spend 5 days a week on the islands drawing whatever I feel like. Oh well, sacrifices must be made in the name of a diploma.

Well on the plus side, maybe you'll have more time for little old us...
