I was planning on typing out this whole long thing to vent about my frustrations with local politics and the general stupidity of people, but then I nodded off on the couch again and it's now pretty much time to go to class. It overall comes down to anyone that would split a community up by race is a dumbass and I didn't realize the full conotations of the phrase "deep south" until I moved down here. It seems to mean that the overall attitude and culture is 40 or 50 years behind reality, even in the city. You know, kind of expect rednecks to still have this attitude of no matter how bad things are atleast they're white and that makes them atleast better that anyone who isn't, but people living in an area where being white makes you the minority? How can you not run into at least a handful of affluent black men if nothing else? I see a few every day just walking down Broughton. Bankers, city officials and business men all dressed up in thier suits and ties for work walking down the street. I think you'd have to be blind to be that dumbass council member (the only white member of the city council I believe too) who made the comment about most of the crime in the city doesn't matter because it's black on black and they're all just a bunch of crackheads. Of course, what's worse, that or the mayor that made it clear that he wasn't interested in anyone's problems unless they were black? Maybe I was just spoiled living in Atlanta, but I really didn't realize this much racist bullshit still existed. The saddest part is I somehow have no doubt that everyone involved will probably still be in office as long as they choose to run.
So much for a short little entry this morning.

Yep, we'll be practically neighbors! Erm, sorta.
I'm not much a beach sort of guy, but it's only 10-15 minutes away from a funny little beach full of French Canadians (in the winter, anyway). Hairy backs and banana hammocks..hooray!
Well you'll just have to drive the 9 hours to visit me...and be a few minutes closer to the beach then won't you?!
