Started wedding planning today. If this one gets cancelled then that's the end of it and we're going to make a quick stop at the courthouse and then take our money and dump it into a killer honeymoon or something instead. Unfortunantly the place at the top of my list to have has changed policy and is no longer an option since we could now buy a second house for what it would cost to use that facility. I think we blew it with them anyways. I'd be willing to bet the event coordinater has my email blocked.
In any case, I'm taking a different approach to this one. I have accepted the fact that if I want a wedding, not just a signed marriage liscense and a changed name, I'm going to have to seek financial backing from my family. Unfortunantly my money tree produced a rather poor crop this year and is not going to be covering school AND a wedding, even a small one. The current agreement (though with my mother I really need a legally binding contract to make sure she doesn't forget or change her mind next week) is that she will pay the half of the wedding package for the deposit to reserve the space and then I'll cover the balance when it comes time. The fact that the deposit is non-refunadable will be my insurance that she's not gonna change her mind at the last minute. The only downside is that I can always end up with no photographer, something we threw together at the last minute for a cake and food, and no flowers. I suppose it's a good thing we bought rings the first time around that are just sitting in the box waiting.
With all the stress involved with this mess I'm starting to understand how Vegas wedding chapels do such booming business. Getting married by Elvis for $50 in half an hour is starting to sound pretty good.
