I'm just a month apart from my last blog, getting better. At least it's not 3 months like usual. I've been really busy and I've been getting out which has been so nice. For a short while I felt like I was in a creative slump. i wasn't writing, drawing, or playing music and i didn't like it. I'm glad to say things have changed as I went out and fixed up my guitar, I started sketching again, and I pulled out some old scripts that I never finished and started working. I have some other things to look forward to that should help me finish even more scripts, like script frenzy. 100 pages in 1 month sounds like a lot but I'm up for the challenge. I don't think I'm going to crank out a feature film, but I do think I can finish a TV episode and some short films, somewhere around 15-20 minutes a piece. I'm totally looking forward to it and I'm sure I'll post some of them when they're done.
Last week I went to the Alkaline Trio show and I loved it. It was my 5th Trio show and I was right up front the whole time. They played a lot from the new album, This Addiction, and Good Mourning but they also played older songs from Goddamnit. Not too much from the other albums though. Like I said, I was at the front the whole time and at the end of the show I got to shake hands with Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano. It was brief but they were both nice and I was so excited. It almost makes me want to go out and get my tattoo.
Last blog I mentioned I was starting to look more seriously into tattoos and I have some specific ideas now. I've always like the idea of the heart and skull logo used by trio but it's a common idea and I'd like something a bit more original. However, seeing them so many times and getting to shake hands makes it seem like I at least have good stories and meaning behind it.
I've been into retro gaming for a long time too and I've always liked the idea of getting some video game artwork. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of an 8-bit Mario. It's not terribly common and everyone I've talked to about it think it's a great idea. Most importantly I like it, particularly around Super Mario Bros. 3
Last, and speaking of artwork, I grew up with and still love Calvin and Hobbes. I really like the idea of Spaceman Spiff. They were some of my favorite strips and I used to have a Sticker with him crashing his spaceship that I love. Something kind of like this
What do you guys think? Any thoughts on my ideas?
