lame poetry writ for a person long gone
Dreamed A Dream Of You
I lay awake one starry night
Listening to music as one might
The Lady Chibi's words painting my thoughts a pale shade of blue
Before I drifted off to sleep
I prayed the Lord my soul to keep
And even though we'd barely met I dreamed a dream of you
I was walking down a lonely street
When suddenly I heard the beat
Of footsteps right behind me doing their best to match my own
I turned around - No one was there
But I could feel the steely stare
Of a stranger who seemed quite intent on following me home
Uneasy I began to worry
Resumed my journey in a hurry
My unwelcome shadow gaining speed as I quickened my pace
My heart was pounding in my chest
My anxious mind refused to rest
Dreading I should ever meet my hunter face to face
Suddenly some glass thing shattered
Fear took over, nothing mattered
Racing through the dark like a greyhound out the box
Twisting, turning, run forever
Jump gate, duck fence, stealthy clever
My pursuer was the hound and I'd become the fox
Eventually my pace did slow
Was sure I'd slipped my unknown foe
And so I leaned against a streetlight in an attempt to catch my breath
Sometime soon I did grow bolder
Took a peek over my shoulder
And the sight that met my vision chilled me like the touch of death
Near the point where I did dally
Lurking in a pitch black alley
Two great big bright eyes held me frozen with their stare
Legs feeling like jelly after
Sound of preternatural laughter
Though I must admit the next part caught me somewhat unaware
For as I stood there fearful, shaking
Knees a knocking, thighs a' quaking
The figure just across the road slowly began to strip
Soundless silhouette gyrations
Causing pantaloon vibrations
The spectre took off her shadow with a wiggle of her hips
A sensual smile in the dim light
Curiosity replaced my fright
The midnight mistress stepped forward 'neath the streetlight's garish glow
A being of exquisite beauty
A little fairy - a real cutie
Perfect from her forehead right down to her little toe
Then at once she did draw nearer
Her gorgeousity becoming clearer
She murmured my name and then she took me by the hand
A gesture oh so minor
With the words "Hello fine china"
Were more than enough to send me tripping to wonderland
She flew me up to outer space
And we hung out at her place
Munching on the moon rocks that we found along the way
We ate vegemite and cheese
And watched Martian DVDs
And she didn't even seem to mind that I had 'nowt to say
Then we tiptoed down the road
Being careful not to 'splode
Any comets, supernovas, suns or outerlying stars
The lass probed my mind and found
That I'm quite partial to a round
So she took me on a pub crawl to some interstellar bars
At one such place we romped
There was a wet t-shirt comp
Full of freaky looking vixens proudly showing off their chests
My magic friend just scoffed
Stood on the table and then coughed
Exposed herself, and all agreed her boobies were the best
We whiled away the hours
Making mischief with her powers
We went skinny dipping in a pool inside of Saturn's rings
But the fast approaching dawn
Meant my face became forlorn
And I hugged my fairy so tight that I almost broke her wings
I pleaded "Please don't let me go,
You're the coolest chick I know!"
My playmate smiled sadly and gently pulled free from my grasp
She kissed me on the head
Sent me hurtling back to bed
And just before I hit my mattress I woke up with a gasp
I sat up feeling upset
My heart tinged with regret
That I had failed to get the name of my supernatural friend
But suddenly I heard
A garbled bunch of words
A final message sent to me before my night time journey's end
With a sly coquettish wink
"I am closer than you think"
From what I deciphered of the rest, she was someone that I knew
Someone cute and fun and smart
And with kindness in her heart
And then as I smiled I realised that I'd dreamed a dream of you
