Everything is Illuminated is an amazing movie. Watch it.
I love the way in which indie-feeling movies tell life stories, specifically the movies that are an equal mix of ridiculous and tragic--just like actual life tends to be. Those movies make me feel good, and a little more real. Little Miss Sunshine did this, as did I Heart Huckabees. It's cathartic when a movie provides a voice for the tragedies that I can relate to. A friend of mine is going to lend me the book (EiI). I can't wait to read it.
As if this movie wasn't enough to make my night incredible, Brenna and I also made brownies. And then we went to see the Nate Miller Band. Karen has been telling me to see them... I'm a fucking moron for not listening to her sooner. They use several of the same harmonies and chords as the Alrights. Man do I love the Alrights.
I convinced Emily to come up the weekend of my birthday. We're going to go out for sushi on Friday night and to check out the new thrift shop in town. It should be promising. Saturday night, I might con Em into going to Beaners with me to see the Nate Miller Band again. I think she'd really dig their sound.
There's only one thing that could make this night any better, but I'm not in the mood to fantasize and tell. I need sleep.
