Last Tuesday, July 25th, the NYC Council held their Americans with Disabilities Act "celebration." What they were acually celebrating is a mystery to me, the way the courts have interpreted it has been pretty much disastrous, but I helped get talent for the gig nonetheless. Hey, we've all seen far too many inspirational cripples, but I was happy to help give the bash a little bratty edge. Tapwaterz kept it real with Four Wheel City and Greg Walloch dropped a big "F-Bomb" on the otherwise "safe" event. Priceless! Kudos to them, and the other performers, volunteers, hecklers, etc. for taking part.
Got to meet and hang a bit last week with Leroy Moore, a true renaissance man if there ever was one. Leroy was out east working on his Crip Hip Hop project. Stop on by his site and send Leroy a racy comment or two. He likes that kind o' thing.
A lovely week it was, too. Even got to share some booze with M[ee]ghan (what is with the symbolism on her page? I'm sure she's trying to evoke something, but just can't seem to place it...) and Bethany as they somehow, once again evaded the law as they rode outta town on a rail.
Comin' up on August 2, the August edition of the disTHIS! film series will feature Greg Walloch back again in "F**k The Disabled" because, well, you can't get enough of a good thing. And truth be told, you know you want to. Who am I to deny a lil' sin?
But, as the week winds down, it is shaping up to be a busy month as well. Off to Watkins Glen to for my first ever Ho'down the opening weekend of August.I've heard pimpin' ain't easy, but this looks like it'll be fun. Plus, Peter Singer will be there. Who knows what kind of trouble I'm likely to get myself into? Keep the bail money handy, I'll bring a few extra quarters for the payphone.
August 10th brings the 2006 Annual Animal Rights Conference in Washington, DC. Plenty of speaking gigs and workshops this time 'round -- we'll see how my voice holds out. Is it time for more fun filled debauchery with Vegans Gone Wild? Time'll tell. One thing for certain, if you don't attend you're bound to miss out. Gonna host the closing night plenary with Dan Piraro of Bizarro cartoon fame, so anything could happen. Don't forget the cameras, kids.
Finally, come the end of the month I'm off to Oakland, CA to take part in, get this, the 2nd Annual Summer Intensive at the fantastic AXIS Dance Company.Yes, you read that correctly. Even did my first Contact Jam last Monday. If you still have doubts, I can show ya thetoe burns to prove it. File it under: "Life is either a daring adventure, or boring." Tell ya this, I've had surgery at least five times that I can recall, been hit by a car, divorced and even sat through an entire Garth Brooks concert once and nothing, NOTHING, ever kicked my skinny tail like the Pilates class I took last week in preparation. Yowwwwzzaa. Getting in shape ... if it doesn't kill you, it'll at least make you feel closer to death. Help ya appreciate the finer things in life - like pain-free livin'.
Not much time to play 'round these parts lately, but I'll try'n post more after the shennanigans settle.
Stay light. Stay true. But most of all, stay in touch.
