if you are single, I believe that this post might help a little bit.
This month marks a full year that I have been single, some of you must be thinking "a year? thats it?" but before you finish that train of thought just continue reading.
since I was 16 I have been in and out of relationships...one would end...3 months later anther one again..I always thought that the saying "youre heart will heal when it replaces someone" was true, so much so that I believed that that was the only way i would survive all heartache...but i realized slowly..that perhaps that wasnt the case and that I was doing MORE damage to myself then one would imagine. Every relationship failed and the heartache got worse.
In march of last year, I decided that I would be single for a full year, My friends didn't think I could do it, and Sadly, a voice in my own head told me that that would be impossible
I was always hoping to find someone, always searching for that comforting feeling of safety and love.. but when I would find it (or so I thought I had found it) I would realize to myself that this person was not what I wanted...and..the outcome would be I would pull away and hurt the person too...
we all want to find our other halves, its human nature... the ancient grecians believed once that the human being was created by the gods with 4 arms, 4 legs, and 2 heads, the gods began to worry that perhaps the being would be too powerful, so they
split the being. It was then said that the being would search its whole life until it was to find its other half to become whole again...
Being single for this long has taught me many things,
*being single for a year or even a few alone is needed since you'll end up spending the rest of your years with someone when you find the right person
* Taking time to reflect on yourself and allowing yourself to really know who you are inside and out will not only help you love yourself, but it will help you see things more clear and will give you a better understanding of who you want to be your other half
*It's better to be alone than to be with the wrong person!
I have been single for a whole year...and for that i am thankful. I needed time to myself to realize my own strength and to realize my potential. I know my worth and can happily say i refuse to settle. I currently have no feelings for anyone here...If i am to be alone bc of my high standards so be it. I do not fear being alone.
