I hear static on the walkie-talkie, and a voice comes on and says” Bring the band up”. The overflowing crowd is chanting, we are in Philadelphia at the gargantuan football stadium, looking out over the mass of people there must be 60,000 here tonight. If you have never been to an NFL game you can’t understand the grandeur of the stadium, there is a city’s population laid out in front of me. The walkie-talkie blares out     “Roll the music”. I hit the button that makes the giant sound system pump out the primal drums on the intro music at ear bleeding level. The stage is a huge monstrosity born out of Micks nightmare, or a Rockstar dream. This nightmare runs completely across the stadium over 450 ft, I’ve been told it’s the biggest stage that has ever been put into a stadium. There are 100ft towers that flank the stage, so tall they have to be built with the big flashing red light on top to alert low flying airplanes of the danger! The stage is shrouded in cloth and steel with all the colors of a skyscraper construction site, orange, red, black and white. The towers are cranes with conveyors, antennas, satellite dishes and giant lighting pods looming off of them. I get a rush of Adrenalin from the sea of people vibrating to the incessant beat of the sound pounding out of the giant system. From my vantage point on the stage I can see the band walk on to the backstage area, you can feel the energy as they strap on there million dollar instruments. The pounding of the sound system comes to a crescendo…. My walkie-talkie fires up again “ Go Pyro” Hell has come to Philly, at least it feel’s that way as the stage explodes with a wall of flames 40 ft tall. My heart is pounding like a jackhammer, 60 thousand voices scream as one, the world could be ending and it would probably feel the same. The unmistakable notes of a song everyone alive knows roars out of the guitar amps on stage as Mick, Keith and the Stones take the stage. I shake my head as if coming out of a dream, the long crazy road that took me here…How did I get here?
