ok so its monday the 6th June. I can't believe the Audioslave gig is over. it was so amazing.
So jimmykane, october, wookey and myself got the train to Cardiff from Bristol on Saturday afternoon. Got to the venue at just gone four and queued, there was only about 24 people in front of us.
So we got in, eventually
Stupid soundchecks.
The support band came on stage. Trail of Dead they were called and I thought they were a pretty decent band. Had two drummers and one of the guys seemed to be able to play any instrument and sing *insert jealous face*
Finally the moment we had been waiting for. Standing second row from front and I nearly died when Chris Cornell walked out on stage. They played a brillant set and I found my eyes wandering to the right hand side of the stage to the gorgeous Tom Morello, who I may just happen to have a crush on now
Well after quite a few songs I decided to retreat to the seating area and I left the claustrophic feel of the crowd, Im not great in confined spaces but it was worth it for these guys. Im glad I left when I did though, because they started playing Rage songs and they put the lights on the crowd and it looked kinda vicious. I know jimmykane loved it though.
Anyway Chris came out and did a solo acoustic version of Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun and then launched into Temple of the Dog's, Call Me A Dog, at this point I had to hold back the tears. It was so beautiful hearing it live.
By the end of the night I was one happy person, even though I didn't get to sleep until 7 am the following morning. We were stuck in Cardiff until 5 am waiting for the next bus. Still I wouldn't have changed that night for the world.
Thank you Audioslave and in particular Mr Morello
