Happy fucking Monday, wakey wakey.

Off all last week with a lovely case of norovirus, both ends baby, oh yes. (You're welcome.) Need some proper get up and go this morning having seen my work pile.

Going to be busting these moves round the office to amuse myself because yeah I got swag.

Fucking love MIA. Stone cold babe ofc but more than that madly in love with her brain and voice.

Nobody quite makes music like her.

Well considering we won't get a new Tool album until the Rapture begins I will give it another go, I still can't believe I saw Tool live when I was 13 and had no idea who they were haha.
sosbanfach:
@hiptobes I love that there's a new update on "the new tool album" basically every week without any real progress. Still, Chinese Democracy got released eventually so you never know!! (Ps, wel jel.)

I know it's basically blasphemy. You're meant to prefer Glenn Danzig and pretend the Misfits ceased to exist when he left, like you're supposed to pretend Mike McColgan was the only true DKM front man.

Punk is, ironically, full of so many rules.

But in the true spirit of the movement - fuck the common consensus. There's plenty to like about the simplicity of Danzig's

Lennie James (of Snatch, Walking Dead and Jericho fame) has wandered in to the realms of the creative, to stand both sides of the camera for a new British drama - Save Me.

It's brilliant but it's bleak as all hell.

James plays a wide boy living on a housing estate that has his door kicked in by the police and is carted off to

Nobody does grim drama like the Brits, do they? Even the Scandi-noir shows are positively cheerful by comparison to most of our TV. I'll have to look this up, more for Suranne Jones than anything else, I like her, she always feels very authentic.
sosbanfach:
@memorandom I think the Scandis largely picked it up from us and carried the torch while British dramas were in the doldrums. I do like a Scandi noir very much but, you're right, when we do REALLY bleak we tend to go to places nobody else does.

I could (and actually am) listen to Regina Spektor all day. The most beautiful voice and the most brilliant lyrical rhythm.

Great poet, great pipes, great thinker.

This whole album (Far) is fabulous and I'd recommend it to anyone having a bit of a melancholy end to the week.

Using your headphones to drown out your mind is me about now.

@memorandom depends on the music though haha. I've been trying to get to see GSYBE for a couple years and it's always at seated venues. That'd be fine. Sit down, chill out, close my eyes. But I saw Volbeat in Amsterdam last year stood up in the stands and it was just weird haha.
memorandom:
Yeah, I've never been into standing at gigs - part of that is admittedly being bloody short - there's nothing worse than going to a concert and having to stand on your tiptoes to see the bloody show because some 6' plonker is in front of you.

PSA: if you're not Polish and you've got a Polish grocery store near you, it's quite possible you never really go in or you just pop in for the odd Zubr or Tyskie and don't touch anything else.

Do yourself a favour next time you're by, go in and pick up some of these - Jezyki (hedgehog, it's kinda cute and appropriate when you look

@memorandom you'll have no argument from me. Thing I love the most about Leicester is the wide variety of global culture on my doorstep. Love the enormous amount of food and drink from all corners of the world here.

Damn, just when I started cutting down on snacky cakes.
