I didn't even realize it until I looked at my latest pay stub, but I have 5 weeks of vacation time saved up. Also, I'll have officially been a full time employee for 5 year as of April 4th... I honestly didn't think I'd still be here 5 years later when I took this job.
This comes up primarily because a friend at work is leaving for another company in a couple weeks, and he's got me thinking I (a) need a long vacation, or (b) need a *really* long vacation, ala 6 month sabbatical.
This is what happens when I have nothing to do at work all day. I'd much rather have a project and be making a contribution, but despite efforts to that effect, it's out of my hands.
And that's the thing about having all this vacation time saved up: it's basically a big bonus if I decided to quit.
Such were my thoughts today.
