Yesterday was an excellent day. I've been dragging for the past week, but I managed to pull myself out of bed and head up to Steven's Pass for a day of snowboarding. Turned out to be fantastic conditions. I had a blast on the ungroomed areas, caught some air on the bumps, tackled some steeps I hadn't before, and generally rocked out with a killer playlist on my iPod.
I took a late lunch around 2 to avoid the crowds at the lodge, and happened to run into Sarah, an old ferry commuter friend from my days on Bainbridge. Her husband was out skiing, and she was stuck in the lodge after suffering a minor concussion last weekend caused by her husband plowing into her, which knocked her backwards and caused her to hit her head on some ice.
Kids, this is the object lesson to buy a helmet. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than the doctor bills, and more comfortable than a cap to boot. It can also save you all that pain and suffering crap.
Anyway, Sarah was being exceedingly gracious by going up at all yesterday. It did give us a chance to chat and catch up, which was nice. Once she's back to 100%, the three of us will be getting together for some runs.
After lunch I did about a half dozen more laps, then called it a day and headed back. Stopped off in Ballard at Than Brothers Pho for dinner, then went home and crashed. I'm sore this morning, but that's how it should be
