I got this tat after participating in a stand-in-awareness campaign in front of police HQ in Ottawa, as well as a couple of counter-protests, during the siege of Centertown. As legend goes, my ancestors that earned this crest were farmers that spied soldiers fleeing Viking invaders. My ancestors rallied them by reminding them that if they don’t stand and fight they’ll just be hunted and killed, and the Vikings will still get what they want. The Vikings were chased off. The King of Scotland at the time rewarded the farmers by commanding the release of a falcon, and ordering the lands stretching from the point of origin to where it landed be given to the farmers. The stone on which the falcon supposedly landed is the Falcon Stone, which is still a landmark in Scotland. Our motto, “serva jugum”, means “honour the yoke”.
