No, it isn't some weird fetish or something you do to attract a partner.
I have been fairly absent lately so it's time for an update and a photo dump!
So since we last chatted, I have finally quit my shit-crap second job. It's somewhat of a shame since the pay was decent and I actually enjoy working with my hands and with food but the management was letting the shop go further and further downhill and I didn't have the time or inclination to rescue the place. So I left, with a fire burning bright behind me. Actually, there was a mass exodus of most of the people I worked with so I feel sorry for the sad kids they got to replace us all.
From that point on, things have been busy the past two weeks but in a great way!
I went to San Diego Comic Con for 2.5 days. It has been many a moons since I went to SDCC with a badge with my real name on it. It was my hub's first time ever so that was great to share that with him.
It was most overwhelming and a blast. We went Preview night which I had never been to. We managed to spend a lot of money in 3 hours.
(photo for @thekarmaguy, I would totally be an Alicorn).
Some of the best Bob's I ever had the pleasure of meeting.
We had a few panels we wanted to see throughout the Con. The panel for Luke Cage was on Thursday night and the highlight for me was John Bernthal magically appearing. I slowly have stopped watching the Walking Dead, he did play a good asshole while he was alive, but really enjoyed him in Fury and of course, Punisher. They announced Punisher would be getting his own series (damn straight).
Day 1, I was a "punk rock" (aka low cost) Sailor Scout.
We saw this booth for Vikings during Preview Night and made a bee-line for it on Thursday. They made us sign a liability waiver to get in. It was goofy and silly but glad we did it. For Valhalla!
Thursday was a less-structured day so we ran around, bought more stuff, tried to enjoy the outdoor festivities a bit more. They had a walk-through set up for South Park's 20th anniversary and it was selfie-central.
Across from Petco Park, they had put together the cabin from Ash vs. the Evil Dead. They would have a signing with the cast here on Saturday which I sadly missed.
This Army of Ashes helped us find the cabin.
I really liked this interactive No Face. The gold in her hand's is Rolos which she gave me. Points for her and I am stealing this costume idea at some point in time.
Friday there was a Bob's Burger panel so I tried my best to take photos with all the Belchers I could find.
On Friday, there was a slew of Adult Swim panels starting at 1p.m. We started to queue up at 11 a.m. We didn't get into a panel until 3p.m. My husband was bummed because we missed the Rick and Morty panel. This photo doesn't even convey half of the line.
Despite the sun, sweat, and 2nd degree burn my husband got, we made it in time for Bob's!
I'm so amazed and impressed by voice actors. Everyone sounds just like their characters. My husband forced me up to go ask a question when it came time for the Q&A. I was so freaking nervous. Part of me was grateful that I didn't make it, the questions were cut off about 2 people from me. I would have loved to hear the remarks the cast might have said about me since they were making playful jabs at everyone who came up. I saw myself on the screen behind the other attendants and I was grinning like a goon.
Clip from the upcoming season (September 25th). I will be buying a Kuchi Kopi nightlight whenever they make one...
Pam and Krieger. There was an Archer panel directly afterwards that we sadly had to miss so we could see the Vikings panel.
You cannot understand a fucking word that Travis Fimmel says and it's great, the whole cast teases him. Kathryn Winnick is a goddess, Clive Standon, and Gustav Skarsgard are fun guys, and Alexander Ludwig is rad. By far, the Vikings panel was my favorite since they really interacted with their fans and seemed to care.
Floki and Lagertha were so cool, they stayed out to take photos with fans but sadly the handlers herded them back behind the curtains. We could only grab photos of other people grabbing photos.
I broke tradition this year. Normally, each Comic Con, I take a photo with Jhonen Vasquez, who is the comic artist and writer that got me into reading comics. I believe that the publishing company he used to work with is no longer and he didn't have space for himself really at Omni. I did see him walking around the convention floor but was too chicken shit and awe-struck to ask for a photo. To me, it's like spotting a rare animal out in the wild and I didn't want to be seen as a pest.
SDCC was a blast and I will be going next year. It's the last year my professional status is valid so I need to get the fun in while I can. It's such a crapshoot getting tickets anymore and so much of Comic Con is based around standing in line for one thing to go standing in line for another thing for 4 hours and MAYBE you'll get the thing that you want.
So, I hope you're comfy because I still have more annoying photos of my life to share. You think that I disappear for this long and don't have anything to show for it??
I have 2 half brothers, one I know, and one I don't. The one I know is nearly 40 and has two children. He finally met a woman (who had his second child) that he wanted to spend his life with so this past weekend, we made the 10~ drive up to Northern California to see him get married. My brother has always been somewhat of a granola so the wedding was on a ranch and some people camped.
Otherall, it was a fun weekend with lots of merriment and drinking. It was fun to watch everyone heckle my "boyfriend" into figuring out when it was going to happen for us. Tomorrow, August 4th, marks our anniversary and anniversary of what depends on who you talk to. To some, we've been dating for three years, to others, we've been married for two years. I would enjoy making it "official" in our families eyes but as I have told him, I leave the asking to him.
My sister, myself, the bride, my baby nephew, and my brother
My niece
Impromptu axe throwing range. My husband refurbished two throwing axes for the each of us and since we don't have any stumps laying around at home, this was a great place to practice.
With enough drinks, I will cut the shit out of any rug.
Getting weird and drunk with my dad.
It was my fabulous idea, after an evening of beers, to grab the last two champagne bottles for the each of us and finish them by the fire with s'mores.
So there you have it, folks!
Now it's back to our regularly scheduled life. I begin university in a few weeks so I'm attempting to enjoy some free time while I have it. Not that I am taking the recommended 15 units, I will be taking 13 units, and working 3-4 days a week, preferably the latter. I don't get how they expect people to go to school full-time and still manage to live with a roof over their heads. I know it's doable but I just got done with a crazy work load so this feels like an opportunity to take a little bit of a break. I'm both excited and nervous for what I got myself into. I will be pushing 30 by the time I am done with school...
As a treat for making it all the way down to the end of the blog, here's a teaser from Apple Blossom, that will be in MR in a month now. It was shot in LA by @drawingfromusic and it's such a lovely set, I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks of it. It makes me wish to shoot more again.
XO until next time!
