This past Sunday was Valentine's day, a day of luuurve (and heavily merchandised products) and in accordance, @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen have asked for us to share a love story. I have a few love stories, one even includes the reason why I joined Suicide Girls in the first place but instead I am sharing a love story within another love story.
I know I bring it up on a pretty regular basis; yes, I met my husband through SG. He messaged me after my second set went up back in 2013
In fact, there is the proof. He's no longer an active member but that was the first correspondence I ever received from him. My abrupt response was due to the fact that I was roaming around a shop at the base of Masada in Israel and would soon lose WiFi connection but of course I was also skeptical. This guy saw me naked already, what more did he want? We chatted and met up after I got home and we all know how the rest of that story went.
My husband introduced me to something that I had never experienced before and never thought I would enjoy or get as into as I am now. It's so thrilling and exciting each time and it's definitely something I look forward to a few times a week....it's...
Hockey (ya pervs...)!!!
I've never been into sports, didn't grow up with a parent following them, never dated anyone who was into them, but my husband is into football and hockey and I decided to give the whole hockey thing a whirl. While I live in Southern California and am in close proximity to two teams, the Detroit Red Wings became my team because it was his team, no point in starting an unnecessary rivalry.
It was me who bought the tickets to our first game when the Red Wings came in January 2014. Sadly they lost but I had a lot of fun seeing the game live, chatting and getting to know the people around us, and just in general having a great time. Since then, we've gone to a game every time the Red Wings are in Southern California, which is sadly only once a year in the winter. We've been upgrading our seats each time, starting from the very back of the Honda Center to this year, we sat three seats from the ice and next to the back up goaltender.
I've really enjoyed getting into hockey and I've gotten pretty deep into it. I'm still working on learning the history but I enjoy keeping up to date with current hockey news. A few weeks ago, I had the AHL (American Hockey League) All Star game on the t.v. at work and these two gents got to talking. I was able to fill in all the details about the drama surrounding John Scott, the details in a nutshell here. One of the guests asked, "How do you know so much about this stuff?" I was slightly impressed with myself.
I suppose you could call my hockey obsession a hockey, which is good because I sorely need one. Last summer was reeeaaallly long without any games to watch. It provides a really easy gift-giving pool from which my husband and I can give to one another.
I received my first sweater 2 Christmases ago. I got one for the Wings current captain, Henrik Zetterberg
He commented how I didn't take that thing off for a few days...I was so happy! I didn't have to steal his gear or accessories anymore so I could take my own photos in my own stuff (very important).
His favorite current player is Pavel Datsyuk and together with Z, they make up the Eurotwins. They are both getting a bit on in age and will probably be retiring in the next few seasons but they've been paired together again during Wings games and the two of them are amazing to watch, like they share a hockey brain.
We go together like the Eurotwins...
My newest sweater acquisition was Petr Mrazek, our former back up goalie who has quickly and easily outshone and risen to the top. The guy is a beast to watch.

My view during the 2016 game at the Staples Center
So here's to the upcoming 2016 play off run, which we're heading into. Play offs begin in April. I better be able to bust out my red undies and my Bell's Brewing Michigan beers again this year!
It's always great when you can share an experience or hobby with your partner that they feel so passionately about. Is there something that a present or past friend or spouse got you into and still hold on to to this day? I can't imagine life without hockey anymore!
