I went on vacation July 20th and since then, I have kind of had vacation brain. I got back August 5th and I have had a hard time adjusting back to reality since then. Not just because I wish I was back in Japan but because my sleep has been messed up and my work schedule has been totally flipped around. Typically, I work the 4-12 am shift but since I got home, I have been working the mornings, getting done no later than 5 pm. My body has then figured it is a good idea that I go to bed around 10 pm. Plus, when I work the mornings, I am scheduled to work alongside my boss so I hardly get any free time to myself vs working the nights, I get tons of time to mess around huhon my computer. I actually go back to working the swing shift on Wednesday so my body will have a whole 'nother round of adjusting to do.
I've missed out on quite a bit since I left for my trip all the weeks ago. There's been a number of blog topics I figure I could just roll into one!
7/24: What skill would you like to acquire?
Dance.
*I am also going to admit I like Lady Gaga in this blog*
I used to dance as a kid, mostly tap and ballet, but it is just something I wish I had pursued further, in any of its forms. From an outsider looking in, I would feel that it also teaches discipline and sets you up for a structure that sometimes I am lacking. Plus, I like being in shows and wearing pretty costumers, all things that dancers get to do.
Youngster Soraleia after and before a dance performance *I cannot say what in the world my little brain was pondering*
Drawing:
I used to draw a lot when I was in high school although it was mostly recreations of my favorite comic book characters. I wish I had the ability to extract what I saw in my mind and make it into a painting or drawing of any kind
^My favorite comic book cover right there.
Also sewing. My friend is masterful seamstress and she is almost 100% self-taught so sometimes, I am very jealous.
7/31: Tell us about your first job!
As a typical goth/emo kid in the early to mid 2000s, my dream was to work at Hot Topic. In 2007 leading up to my senior year of high school, I got a job there as a sales associate. Hooray! I actually really enjoyed it; decent length shift (I typically worked 5:30pm to 10pm so I could even work my babysitting job in before hand), I got to play with clothes most of the time, and at the time, we had more control over the radio stations so we got to listen to some decent music. In fact, thanks to one of my coworkers, I found one of my favorite albums by an amazing band, Murder by Death
Anyways, it turns out that Hot Topic is a shitty company to work for (go figure) and I got fired for telling the truth to our District Manager. Oh well, live and learn. I wouldn't trade the time for the world but I also won't step foot into a HT store anymore and just prefer to shop online.
8/7: Flashback Friday! Post photos of your high school style
So this topic kind of ties in with #FBF high school photos as, like I said, I was rather gothy in high school. Black was a staple but on the other hand, I also tried to dress as oddly as possible, going as far as wearing a bunny tail during the beginning of freshman year.
Taking nudies even in high school...
HOLY SHIT! Look at that old cell phone. Flip phone!? What is with kids those days! Anyways, that was a silly photoshop my first boyfriend did of me in high school.
What's been your favorite blog over the last few weeks? I actually don't think I can get enough of sharing dumb, old photos of myself. The only thing I can do is laugh!
