Time for another blog! Thank you @rambo @lyxzen and @missy !
5/29: Who are your favourite artists? Share some of your favourite pieces by them!
I love this assignment! My favourite artists are Jenny Holzer and Damien Hirst.
I'll start with my favourite piece EVER. It's called 'Blue Purple Tilt' and its by Jenny Holzer.
It's a beautiful instalment that I had the pleasure of stumbling upon at the Tate Modern a LONG time ago. The text is all from Holzer's other work, and it's so amazing. There was a bench opposite that I sat on for what I imagine was about half an hour, and I went back to see it a couple of times after that too. ππ
And now one from my other favourite, Damien Hirst. Vastly more popular but still incredible. My favourite work of his is 'For the Love of God'.
Honestly the most stunning thing. 'It consists of a platinum cast of an 18th-century human skull encrusted with 8,601 flawless diamonds, including a pear-shaped pink diamond located in the forehead that is known as the Skull Star Diamond.'. I also saw this at the Tate Modern - I had to queue for a while, but it was so, so worth it. It was displayed in a glass cabinet in a pitch black square room in the turbine hall. I fell in love. If anyone wants to buy it for me for my birthday, it's only an easy Β£5om. π
Hopefully you like them! I hope I can see both again one day. π
