It's Christmas?
This is an odd one for me. It's my first single Christmas in over a decade. There was no night of choking on pine needles and tinsel as we hung lights and ornaments from the tree. There was no eve panic as we searched for that final perfect gift. There was no pushing a chair behind the bedroom doorknob to prevent us from peeking in while we wrapped the presents. This year, there are no stockings, no gifts, no tree and no one to pull out of bed by the shirt collar of their pajamas in the morning. I haven't set my alarm.
This isn't a bad thing. Just. Odd.
My father invited me over tomorrow for lunch and a brief acknowledgement of our genetic linkage. My mother will be at work. My youngest sister will be staying at a friend's house. The middle sister will be in California with her boyfriend.
On Monday at 7am, I'll be on a plane back to San Francisco, and will arrive at my desk at ten.
Every weekend is Christmas around here.
Nevertheless -
I wish all of you the happiest of holidays! Merry Christmas!

Lest this become a totally personal entry, void of travel or concertgoings -
I may fly in to PDX tomorrow night.
