Who doesn't hate mosquitoes? We had a dry summer, so this past year here was pretty good--we hardly had any mosquitoes compared to other years. Lawns looked like crap, but at least we could go outside and enjoy the dust devils without being eaten alive. 
Interesting historical fact: When it was first settled, Battle Creek had so many swamps and mosquitoes that almost everyone had malaria. The young lads and lassies had to schedule their dates between their fevers.
