Today was Ping Pong's burial. For not having dug a respectable hole since constructing awesome fire pits in Boy Scouts, it went pretty well. I made a nice fourteen inch hole with flat sides and a flat bottom. Then I added a layer of small rocks on the bottom to help with water drainage. Next came Ping Pong, fully protected for the future I taped her candy tin closed, put it inside a zip top bag which I taped closed, and then put it inside a shoe box. I then added a layer of dirt, with a layer of larger rocks on top before filling in the hole the rest of the way, finishing with a larger flat rock and her headstone. And as a deterrent for the dogs I put I small fence around it.
When I was done with that I took a shower and then went to buy some black paint for the name on her headstone. Then I came home, scrubbed the headstone clean, and added a few layers of clear spray paint that will hopefully seal the stone a little bit. After that had dried I filled in the chiseled letters with paint. I went with an acrylic paint that I am hoping will last at least a little while. I couldn't find any that mentioned being good for outdoor use so I just went with a regular one. I'm going to let it dry overnight and then tomorrow I'll add a few more layers of clear spray paint as a protective barrier. At the moment it looks pretty decent, I'm happy with how it turned out, especially for a first attempt.
Tonight was Chipotle night and I partook but food still doesn't really taste like anything, maybe by tomorrow. For dessert I had a frozen hot chocolate. I was going to avoid those for awhile but I don't drink alcohol so I decided to drown my sorrows in chocolate. It didn't really work but I probably gained back the calories I missed out on yesterday.
The rest of my night was spent watching TV and playing video games. Not very exciting but I'm still kind of drained. I'm trying not to think about it too much because when I do I cry and I'm tired of stuffy nose. The thing that really got me today was when I was sitting in my room with the door open and one of the cats came in and looked up to where Ping Pong's cage used to be. She used to come in every time my door was open and she would sit and watch Ping Pong for hours. It was really depressing to see her look up and then around for the cage that wasn't there. I keep looking too. And listening. My room is so quiet now.
