I caught up on my DVR stuff, sort off. I didnt actually make it past Doctor Who so Ive got all the stuff I taped today. This weeks Doctor Who was annoying because its apparently a two-parter. So I got all into it and then it ends before the ending. Im still not that into the new Doctor. I just cant believe him when hes supposed to be an intimidating badass. He cant quite pull it off. I do like the new companion though. And not just because shes a cute redhead.
My mom liked her presents. Below I have a picture of each plus a picture of the dog after I had wrapped it. I am a pretty awesome wrapper.
I beat a few more levels of Call Of Duty: World At War today. I kept my anger down to a minimum but I finally reached the breaking point. I think it was a combination of a hot room, playing for too long, and the unrelenting volley of enemy grenades. I called it quits on a level that I struggled with quite a bit on the Hardened difficulty setting as well. The first part is a bitch because you have to burn out Japanese soldiers hiding in the grass and then climb up a hill with machine gunners on top firing down at you. Then there are a few bunkers you blow up and finally the part that screws with me.
There is a big hill to climb with no enemies but when you reach the top you see that there is another hill with machine guns on top. The goal is to go around the hill, either to the left or the right, and make it to a tunnel system on the other side. On Hardened I went to the left, and I went to the left a ridiculous amount of times. It was hard. This time I am determined to go to the right. And I have succeeded a few times now but then I fail when I get around to the backside of the hill.
If the checkpoints were thought out properly there should be a checkpoint once you make it past the giant machine guns firing down on you. Or at the very least the previous checkpoint shouldnt start that the bottom of the first hill because it gets incredibly frustrating having to run up the damn thing every time I die. Which is frequently. Its like trying to climb up a really steep slide and right when you almost make it you lose your grip or footing and slide all the way back down to the bottom.
With the checkpoints in this game, when it comes to the harder difficulty settings, so much of it is taking a few steps forward and then getting knocked back a couple. Its hard to maintain any momentum which really takes the fun out of the game. But in the end all this frustration is entirely self-imposed.
Tonight I came in during the middle of a music video when my TV was on mute. The singer in the video looked really familiar, at least his mouth did when he was singing but I couldn't place him. Then the end of the video rolled around and I found out it was The Spill Canvas. I love that band. And the singer looks completely different now. Most of it is probably the shaved head and lack of facial hair but it also looks like he lost his baby fat. As evidence here is an old video first and then the new video second:
