I was going to write a big post about how utterly brilliant Jamie O'Neill's At Swim, Two Boys is, as I've been intermittently re-reading it for the summer, but that would be enjoyable, I figure, mostly for me. Not that I particularly say anything on here of note to anyone, at least anyone who doesn't actually know me, which is one person ...
I've been given a promotion of sorts at work. They want me to train to become a shift supervisor and work basically the same hours with a bit more responsibility, and a bit of a less irritating uniform in exchange for more money (not sure if it's still waged, or salary) and maybe benefits. I can't be arsed to keep looking for jobs so I think I'm going to take this one. I made sure it wouldn't mean I'd have to work the morning shift (that is, at 6am) so basically the worst thing about it is having to commute to Cranston with someone I can't stand. But, I'll get paid for it, so who cares.
I'm also doing fairly well at driving. I hit forty the other day and am driving on some decently sized roads, not just back roads. I think the mother and I are going to go to my dad's tomorrow to pick up some of my things (colder weather clothes, more books and cds, finally, thanks be to God, my movie collection, and ... wait for it ... part of my security deposit from my last apartment! Fucking landlord finally got around to not being an ass) and I'll get more practice then.
At any rate, I'm just home from work, which was slow and dull, and I've an appointment with my friend Ilana to talk about a movie tonight because she doesn't know anyone who would care about it, and I don't know anyone other than my mother. So there. I shall abandon you hear, on my nonexistent internet audience, to go and talk about a movie. I hope you've enjoyed this utter waste of time as much as I have.
