So it was themilkman and myself's second Valentine's Day on Tuesday, and things went very well. I usually don't get too excited about the holiday, but this year I really got into it. Maybe it was because I got to break my "No More E-bay" rule to buy his present, but I was totally psyched starting in early January.
Despite my Mom's concerns that planning a fun day would end up in spirit crushing disaster (she phoned me this morning to make sure I didn't build it up too much and get disappointed) everything worked out perfectly.
(Warning: Boring play-by-play ahead)
We both worked in the morning, with me getting home early enough to bake and frost a pink cake with red sprinkles.
After he got home, we exchanged presents and had cake and tea. Since my real present hadn't arrived in the mail yet, I got a tiny potted rose plant and a cool grey mug from Starbucks as a gift, plus a bag of Robin's Egg malted milk candy (my favorite candy ever).
I gave themilkman his gifts, which had just arrived/came back from the engravers the day before. I got him a silver ID bracelet with a Modest Mouse Quote engraved on the front, and a silver chain with a tiny skull charm. I also made him a piece of crafty art.
After that we made dinner together(sausages, mashed potates and baked asparagus) and instead of eating in front of the TV in sweats, we go dressed up and had a candle-lit dinner. (I have no problem with the first option, but it was a nice change).
The next morning, my actual present arrived: a silver anatomical heart necklace, and another necklace with two tiny silver maggot charms (an idea which I was sold on once I read how the designer made them to signify "til death do us part")
Anyways, blah, blah, blah, I'm sure you're all bored by now, but I had a really great time. Although, the special Valentine's Day Reba was all about how if you have a great gift and a great plan on your first Valentine's Day, then you'll be doomed to try and top it every other year of your life. Maybe themilkman and I should be learning a lesson from Brock and Van?
Pictures!...
Flowers (the carnations were from my mom the week before)
Cake, Tea, Gifts and Candy Eggs
Dinner (it was dark without the flash going off!)
Silver Maggots (that don't photograph well)
Tiny Human Heart
Bonus Joke!
What would America be if everyone drove pink Cadillacs?

Thank yoooooooooou.
Lily, Smuffy, and I call each other "whoreface" as a term of affection offline, and somehow we morphed into the "Whoreface Trifecta." VelvetHolmes was the unofficial fourth member of the trifecta, but he was unfortunately zotted a few days ago, so now it's just us three broads to fend for ourselves!
