I am now a consumer whore. In the past couple days, my friend generously bought me a Gameboy Advance. There were no games with it, so I wound up buying Final Fantasy I & II for it. Then today I got Funeral by Arcade Fire. Given how tight I've been with money lately, that equals consumer whore.
Oh, and my friend in Iraq stopped by. He got leave for I think two weeks, and is fortunately missing the elections there. It might go off without a hitch, but who knows...I'd rather he be here for the time being. He still seems to be his same old dorky self, and has been busying himself in Iraq, disturbingly, by playing World of Warcraft. With a high ping, but still, he's in Iraq. Oh, and he's friendly with a "godfather" in the town he's in. The fact that the guy is there is a good thing, because since he's a criminal anyway, he can torture and kill people and generally instills fear. Insurgents stay the hell away from...I dunno, whatever the hell region he's in, I don't remember.
Anyway, if you're interested in some random soldier's opinion about Iraq...his primary argument seemed to be that unless a non-corrupt police force is established in the country, peace will not be an option. He seemed overall pretty pessimistic about the whole thing. Take it with a grain of salt if you want, I guess, since he's been raised Democrat anyway.
That's about it. I just want you to notice, I did a journal entry that involved my actual life. I doubt it'll happen often.
