I just ran into a nice little metaphor in the book I've been reading lately and for some reason or another felt like it was the kind of thing that I should post on the internets. Amazingly enough, I don't really have anywhere else better than here to dump this shit. Anyway, here it is.
"Kite-flying is a double-edged experience, at once liberating and a reminder of your earthbound nature. The kite is a part of you and yet not a part of you, it is like having your soul on a long string tugging at you, attached to your body and yet with a life of its own. The temptation, of course, is to let go."
Really, though, please don't judge this nice book poorly on the basis of this quote alone. That said, I feel obligated cite it; the book is "The Testament of Gideon Mack". I seem to like it enough myself to be recommending it to my friends.
