RIP Adrienne Shelly 
She has been on my list of brainy girl crushes for years...and was in fact the biggest reason I got into Hal Hartley's stuff in the first place...she was just a great presence in his movies...now a victim of a really senseless-seeming murder. I mean, all murder is senseless, but this was apparently a result of an argument over too-loud apartment renovations...But at least we know what happened now...all the speculation of suicide this last week just didn't sit right with me...

If you've never seen her, she was in Factotum recently, but she's best known for her work with Hartley...The Unbelievable Truth and Trust are good places to start...
It's been raining biblically here in the NW...now, I love the rain, but a solid week of it is a little too much even for me...it's a heyday for slugs, though. I just saw a massive one in my basement, just freakish, and looking at me with its little antennae-eyes with a real "fuck off" stare...

A couple days ago I saw:
"Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver."
I get the humor, but doesn't that seem kind of like a creepy-ass sticker to be driving around with, stuck to your trunk? With two tweaked-out hesher-looking dudes manning the car, no less?
