So, Pluto has been demoted to the status of "dwarf planet." This is apparently the result of heated drama and debate within the astronomy community. Is it just me, or does this New York Times Article read almost like an article from the Onion? It's really all about a bunch of nerds duking it out over what to call Pluto...I love it! But now the astronomers are declaring a triumph of "science over sentiment" and the World Book Encylopedia was breathlessly holding off on their 2007 edition until the new label for Pluto came out...and alas, Pluto is now just a lowly "ice ball," and astronomy museums around the world are now subtracting one major planet from the solar system. Poor Pluto...
