When I'm stoned I get lots of thoughts and the ones that seem important I write down on a piece of paper in texta. I just came across one that I wrote about 8 months ago:
"Because we have self-awareness, we forget that we're apes. What we have forgotten is the price we pay for sentience."
I remember it seemed profound at the time, but now I can't remember what it means. It must mean something, because i must have known what it meant at the time I wrote it, otherwise I wouldn't have written it. I'll let you know if I ever remember what it means.
Just came across another one that is a good illustration of how the mind thinks during depression:
"Pleasure is life. Pain is life. Is life something we have to endure? Or is it something to enjoy?"
