The truth is that no one gives a shit if you think dreads are tied to a "religion". I'd say that way more civilizations with various religions could lay claim to the hairstyle (which is just fucking hair) well prior to 1930s. Rastifarian "culture" is in its infancy compared to when dreadlocks started, in which was in prehistoric and ancient times. If you can't understand that, you need help.
