Strange to be an immigrant. Most of the time I understand everything that's going on, and then someone hits me with a complicated separable verb...then I'm scunnered again.

I've registered with the authorities (which you have to do here), joined the library, found lots of work, finally after 2 WHOLE MONTHS got my tax number, and arranged for the final move from Scotland. Furniture, cats...

It is hard to settle like that, I struggled my whole time there. I learnt (extrememley!) basic conversational kinda German, but as soon as you say "hello, how are you?", it seems assumed you are fluent then I just hear white noise...

Hope all is well with you! x

Just back for a few days folks - I haven't got an internet connection yet in Germany and don't really think I can get away with looking up this site at work frown .

Otherwise things are fine! The new flat is lovely, I now have a bed and some plates and so can live with a modicum of civilisation. Music is provided by a borrowed...

I'm back...but not for long! Looks like we have found a flat in Munich, I just have to sign the contract and hand over the s (or Euros) and then we are sorted!

We're going to be living in this bit of town:
Pasing

It's a lovely flat with a wee terrace that the cats can run about on, and handy for the train line...

Soooo long since I last stopped by. Must have been before I went travelling that I last looked in on your jounal. I've missed it all haven't I. surreal
New home, new job, new surroundings (sort of, as you've been there so often) biggrin That's excellent!
I met a German woman whilst travelling who is back in Berlin now - she hates her old life and wants to be somewhere else, and so do I. I almost feel as though I don't belong here anymore.

Good luck in your new life; I'm pleased for you.
Are you still going to be on SG?

I am back online. My old computer died a week ago, but the nice guys at the repair shop fixed me up a new one and stuck my old hard drive in as well, so I haven't lost any data! biggrin Not that several years worth of essays in sundry subjects would be missed by anyone, but my pics and music are all there too. I...

Just back from Caithness...thank the gods for Loganair, for otherwise a nice 1 hour plane journey (with a wee dram) would be replaced by a 8 hour misery marathon courtesy of Scotrail, who seem to have some conscientious objection to cleaning the filthy stinking lavvies mad on their snail-slow overheated trains. Fuck the carbon footprint. As soon as I get my driving licence I will be...

Aaah what an exciting housewifely existence I have. Pot of soup on the stove, yoghurt in the yoghurt maker, washing machine loaded up for tomorrow and a new settee coming in the morning. These, I am afraid, are currently the highlights of my life...frown

Naah actually there have been some other highspots, like my handsome beloved being home last week love, and I had a...

We just got back from Germany yesterday. I am still knackered but boy did we have a good time! Cologne, Berlin and Aachen in 5 non stop whizzing about beer drinking days. We even caught up with the lovely CuriousTomcat for a coffee or two.

Taffboy hates clowns. HATES HATES HATES and FEARS them. However in Nordrhein-Westfalen, which is where we were for 3 days...

Off to Germany next week. Yippee! Cologne, Aachen and Berlin beckon. Hopefully I won't lose my voice this time and have to be poked about by foreign doctors with beards.

As I was once married to a very dashing Captain Kirk lookalike, I thought you might enjoy these clips. Fortunately my ex has not degenerated to the toupee and corset wearing stage as yet.
