This friday I am going in to get my first big-ish piece! I have an ok amount of ink already, but all of my stuff is very hide-able... Even my wrists I don't see as that big of a deal. At first I was kind of worried about this piece-- I'm getting the inside of my arm inked with snowflakes, and I'm having corsetting wrap around the outside as a ribbon and tie by my elbow-- but I know that I will absofuckinglutely love it. It is absolutely me. It just is. The only really nerve wracking part about it was the fact that this is so final. Its like "OK, here we go. Once you get your sleeve started, you may as well give in and roll with it." I don't think that I'd be tying any other pieces into this arm-- my left arm-- once I get the ribboning finished, but you never know. I'm really, really excited. It has been... god, years... since I've gotten new ink. Its about time.
The snow flakes that I am getting are copies of Wilson Bentley snowflakes-- he is the guy who first photographed the snowflake back in the early 1900's. I picked out my favorite from his book Snowflakes in Photographs, and had my sisters do the same. (We are the Snow girls, ya huurd?)
These aren't ones that i am getting, but this is some of his work. Beautiful images, and truly, no two are ever the same.
The weather has been awesome for naked night swimming. Went again last night, but my friend was a jackass and set off the alarm to the pool we went to, so we had to dip. It is so funny-- I feel like if people caught us swimming naked, they would be like "That is so dirty!" but that makes no sense to me... Wearing a bathing suit-- which you are naked under, by the way, or have we forgotten that fact?-- would put more dirt, fabric softener and detergent, and general skagma into the water than a naked body would. I want to start a naked night swimming club! That would be awesome!
Just got back into town after an intense weekend of Yoga. I'm doing a yoga teacher training right now, so by December I will be certified to teach. It was an amazing weekend. I've been eating so much, though, recently... I need to go to the gym and run for a while. And get my food habits back under control. Mmmm, food is so good though. And I'm vegan, mostly raw foodist, so I always manage to convince myself that it is ok if I eat the refrigerator because most of it is healthy... But I need to break myself of that mindset. Even vegans can get fat.
I've been reading the Bhagavad Gita-- a book on indian spirituality and the manifestations of god-- and I'm really enjoying it. I'd recommend it... it is pretty short, unless you get the one that I am reading that has like 400 pages of pseudo-Cliff's Notes on the translation. It is interesting getting different interpretations though.
That is it! I will post some pix on friday of my sort-of half-sleeve! What would that be called, since it won't be going over my shoulder? Is it still a half sleeve? Or is it just banding?
Peace out, SG!
