I have been compulsively checking my SG to see if my set had been accepted for the past thirteen days... but who is counting? Needless to say, I was overjoyed to see that letter of acceptance floating there in my inbox. Overenthusiastic? Check. I don't want to do this for the attention or the money, although one of the two would be pretty nice for a poor college student (and I'll let you guess at which one that is). It is more for the Self. I am a photographer, and I am always the one behind the lens... Making people beautiful is an art, you know, and I am an artist. Sometimes, though, behind that lens one tends to forget that they can be just as beautiful.

That is what this is about for me. A chance to be beautiful in front of the lens for once.

The set that I submitted was shot by my boyfriend who'd never really operated a camera in his life. The half hour before we started shooting was my tutorial on "this is the aperture, this is the shutter speed..." Needless to say, I ended up setting the camera up for him and then passing it over so that he could just press the button. It was fun, though, and I am very happy with most of the shoot. I'm even more excited for the set ideas I've been pouring onto paper for a later date and time.
