heh.....yeah...prolly not a good idea to go swimming with the dreads in. They are extremely heavy when wet.

To answer your question....no, they don't require kids to learn how to swim over here in the US. You have to do it on your own if you want to learn. I actually had swimming lessons when I was young....I am also one of the -only- people in my group of friends that even knows how to swim.
Oh well....
if the icecaps melt and the land is engulfed by water.....you and I will survive!
Everyone else is doomed.
