i went to pasadena on a whim last night. a friend of mine's girlfriend had a birthday party. i haven't been to a party of his in say, 5 yrs. we both used to live in madison, wi. i find it interesting that even though none of the people were the same minus me j and c..that all the people were the exact same as those c used to hang out with.
all the dudes getting blue nuts over the skanky short skinny blonde chicks. (yep, i know...i'm jealous. i always wanted to be short, but geebis gave me the short end of the stick..or rather the long end of the stick..really) the two hot items of the night were 2 blonde chicks that were maybe 20 or 21. i just rolled my eyes to myself and sucked it up. i made it a few hours until i felt dizzy and had to lie down for the night.
it was great to see my old buddies. c always cracks me up because he gets so head over heels about things. it used to be indie rock. he wanted to talk about indie rock and record labels and concerts from morning until night. which was enjoyable for me b/c 1) I can usually hold my own in those types of conversations and 2) it was a learning experience usually b/c c would have some obscure band that i would like based on c's assessment of my musical tastes.
but now, it's rock climbing. and i just don't know 2 shits about rock climbing. i've never climbed a rock in my life. in fact, i'm not even sure i ever want to. hiking i like. switchback to the top of yosemite falls--yup did that. but bald rock..hmm i think i'll pass.
all in all, it was a good night. i've seen pics of his girlfriend and hadn't met her. i really enjoy her, unlike his old loonie compulsive liar girlfriend.
i'm now in the process of getting a laptop to replace the one of my room mates that i have been using. considering that he is leaving. i'm actually not so worried about all that anymore. i'm not exactly thrilled shelling out the money for the next couple months, but i'm thinking about moving in with a friend of a friend where the rent is dirt cheap. the plan is to be there for about 6-8 months and either put money down on a house or move into a one bedroom.
somewhere in the back of my mind the option of denver is still there. i so dearly miss some of my friends (esp carly and burns and nick). i don't miss the weather tho. i work for an insurance company..and most insurance companies are even more "corporate" than those that worry about Sharpie markers.
i don't think i can go back there yet without at least traveling to more places in this state.
on the list: san francisco, lake tahoe, big bear, a big tour of LA, the redwoods.
all you californians: where should i go?? anyone down for a road trip??

Oh yea almost forgot- for a little hometown fun, there's an Annual Avocado Festival in Carpinteria in Oct. I've never been but it looks interesting..
