Oh what a beautiful morning......

It's a lovely day here and I'm gonna celebrate it by shutting the curtains and watching Nightwatch! Just so the warm glare of the sun doesn't reflect on the TV and I miss some of those zany Russian scenes!

After having been dragged to see Morrissey by my wee sis and my dad on Thursday I am happy to report...

yep there were parts that were pretty good.
I wish that they hadn't have made it so light-hearted though
midwinter:
SH4 will pass a few hours painlessly enough, but there's something missing from it. It feels too episodic, and then there's the problems I mentioned above.

You might have bother finding it just now, though, as they've just released a collection of 2,3 and 4, so getting them individually might be hard.

Best bet's to check the second hand bins. That's where mine now resides...

The second Southpaw gig has come and gone. I can't seem to get too over excited about it somehow. We were alright but 1 or 2 on-stage errors and the 4 and a half hour hanging about time before going on made me more than a little negative afterwards.

On the positive side our singer put on a great performance and was as positive afterwards...

gigging is always fun man. its not only a time to show case your talent and songs. but it is also a time to see what areas u need to work on and what the public think of ur music.

Nether the less, 2 gigs under your belt. always aim higher biggrin

Well, I did it.

I booked myself on a flight. On a P L A N E.

Paris in September and 6 months of fear await me.

Tell me it'll all be OK.

Nowt much else of interest to report. This week I have worked 9 to 5 in my cosy little world of admin apart from wednesday when I worked until half 7.

Tuesday...

plagiarism a good filmmaker does not make!

now, if Miike's next film involves a cameo from Eli Roth, in a torture scene, getting his balls fed to himself before being made to watch his own films, i'll be a happy man.
midwinter:
Planning to go see V for Vendetta this weekend if I can. Although I'm a big fan of the comic - and people who have similar tastes to me have told me I probably won't like it. But we shall see.

There's a pirate of Hostel lying around the house just now, so I may watch it later. Funny feeling I'll hate it though - I couldn't stand Cabin Fever. Roth's a hack.

you raise a valid point. nonetheless, death by laser is so much cooler than choking on a twiglet. live the dream.
midwinter:
Hm. Your poisoning theory would certainly explain a lot...

Really fancy the remake of The Hills Have Eyes. May take a trip to the cinema at the weekend to take it in.

I am happy.

Buck 65 is playing in Glasgow at the end of April.

My toes are gonna fall off with excitement.
midwinter:
Can we then call you 'Stumpydave'?

I haven't updated in a week now.

I suppose I saw no point really.

Ho-hum.

As soon as I get a cheque book I'm gonna pay for a trip to Paris in November with my lovely ladyfriend Agent L. At either end we may sleep for a night in a Londinium hotel room. Snoring is optional although not desired.

That's my news. The larger issue...

I hate the songwriting process.

The original idea is great and you play it and you play it and then it's like 'ok, well, let's structure this mutha'. Then you play it and it doesn't work so you play it again and it kinda works but someone doesn't like it so by the tme you get something that everyone kinda agrees on it doesn't sound...

It has been a while since I have been on the site. Had a friend up from England to see our gig and that kinda took over my life for 4 days. Not that that's a bad thing - she's a very good friend and it was great to see her for the first time in 2 years.

So yeah, the gig happened and it...

I was quite impressed today to find the SG DVD on sale in Avalanche Records - which is an independent record store in Glasgow.

Maybe I shall return and buy it..... although I'm not sure whether that would be approved of by my lady friend or not. She knows all about the site and stuff and that I'm a member but I'm still not sure...

Two weeks away from your first gig isn't really the time to have a shit rehearsal is it?

It was all going so swimmingly up until tonight but then you realise that the potential to be crap is still there.

THEN the bass player and drummer decide to team up and say they don't want to play a certain song that I personally think is...
