I'm in Gulfport, Ms. Holy hell my parents have a laptop now. This is amazing considering they only got cable a few years ago. Seriously.
Not really doing much. Just hanging out. Toured a few breweries including Abita. Their tour kinda was sucky. They showed us the mash tun and fermenting vessels....aaaand that was it. However they did give us open access to the taproom. Yes, they left me alone with all their beer on tap including the high ABV stuff. No limit on samplings at all. None. I drank as much as I could in the half hour time limit. Needless to say I napped the whole drive home. Heiner Brau brewery was much smaller. I was the tour group. But the tour leader was the brewer, so I got to geek out and ask technical questions. He was hesitant to answer a few at first, but I turned on the ole' SP charm and got the answers I wanted.
The damage from the disasters down here is still very apparent. Lots of closed stores and vacant lots. Thanks a lot big government, you know there's more to the south than N'Oleans. Surprisingly it's cold down here right now and even colder in this RV. Someone come give me heat. I needs it.
The other thing I noticed since I've been here is that racism is alive and well and sometimes not even being hidden. I passed a foreign auto service place called "JapTec". Really? Really??
The flight here was interesting. I fit in the seats for the first time in years. Fucking A'! And better yet I don't mush over into the seat next to me. I know that sounds minor, but for me it's a big thrill. Mom was walking behind me in the store and mentioned that she was shocked at how slender I look. Granted I'm still a fatty, but compared to what I was I am slender.
I had a talk with them about my new-found love life. I was nervous that they might be weird about the fact that right now it's long distance, but they didn't even seem concerned at all. Mom asked a million questions I didn't have the answer to, but that's her nature; she's curious, just like me. I think they can see a difference in me though. I'm a lot happier with life and more content in general. Having someone to love and having them love me just as much does that to a guy. They can tell I'm more complete now even if I don't say it. That's neat.
Making mexican tonight. Smell you later.
