So, this is my first blog written in Greenland.
I live in a town called Kangerlussuaq, it's an old US air base. There are about 550 people living here. The surrounding landscape is absolutely stunningly beautiful, although it looks rather barren and hostile at the moment.
I've been well accepted and taken care of by my new co-workers, all of them are pretty young, think the oldest is like 31yrs. There's been some problems with some certificates, but all is in order now and I've started my training. I really love that job! -Although, it is a lot more difficult hearing what the pilotes are saying here. Also we have a lot of HF communication and it's not always good.
I haven't been sight-seeing all that much, but I was so lucky to be invited out flying with 3 others in a Piper 28, that's a small 1-engined aircraft that seats 4 people incl. the pilot. It was absolutely awesome! I've never before tried flying in such a tiny aircraft, it was amazing! So beautiful....
Ren will join me with the cats on Fri. 25th. I can't wait for him to get here, I really miss him a lot. I had some things to prove to myself by coming here on my own. I've proved it, and now I never wanna be without my man again! I know I'm quite addicted and dependable on him, but why would that be a bad thing? I mean, I can do things on my own, but it's so much more fun to do them with him. My mom in particular thinks that sometimes I stick to Ren too much. I think she's afraid that I've lost my independence. I haven't. I just really love my man....
Well, I finally got access to the internet from my apartment and that's really great. Just chatted with Ren on msn, it was great.
I do miss people at home, and the kitties and the horse, but I like it here. People are nice. It's light 24 hrs a day. I have about 5 mins walk to my work and the job's great. I won't worry about the winter although I know it'll be tough to get through. Think it's really important to have a job during winter so you have something to keep you occupied. It's gonna be really dark and really cold. But luckily this is the good season, with summer approaching. I hear it's really beautiful here when the grass turns green and stuff.
