I am super excited to get out of town and back to Toronto. I have had such a whirlwind last month. This day last month I was sick with stress about my impending defense and a houseguest came into town for a quick 10 day visit for her to tie up loose ends at school...she stayed a month. I kind of expected to have had SO much time to myself by this point, but I really have been a glorified taxi/restaurant/hotel service. I am forcing myself to relax right now, I showed up to work and was told I looked like I slept in my car. Yeah, that makes a girl feel awesome. But it was true. Stress is not a good colour on me.
It is just a bummer when a close friend takes advantage of your generosity. I guess that is what it comes down to. What is kind of ironic is that I have recently become friends with some amazingly generous people. Generosity is never something I expect and it always takes me by surprise and do not know quite how to react.

Spoilered story. Bottom line: I'm a bit of a bitch, but I know the definitions of words sometimes.
So, there is a cold snap here at the moment but in order to think positively about things I have started thinking about what I want to plant in my front yard.
I want it to be butterfly and bee friendly and super colourful.
Here is a smattering of things I am thinking about:
Butterfly bush
Pink and white lavender
Nikko Blue Hydrangea
Then I am looking for some nice smelling flower. Maybe lilac? I grew up with jasmine outside of my bedroom window, but it is a touch cold for that in Colorado.
And a little tree
Coral bark maple-I'm also thinking of a garnet weeping maple. Oh decisions.
To all of those horticulturists out there: Let me know if you have any advice!
Your so lovely to bring treats

I hope you had fun at nerd fest (aka Wizard World)!
